DEFINE MASAYA

Happiness or “masaya” in tagalog issss more of a feeling rather than something that we can easily put into words. The way I understand it, is a bit of emotion that we express through our everyday lives.

More than that, happiness is simply known as “meeh”, like the way they used to call me since childhood “happy-ness knows me by name”.  =)

As time goes by, the way I see through it; the true meaning of happiness is not easy to define. A sort of mixed emotions in me that turns me upside down in this so-called LIFE. A bit of confused, drained, disturbed, stressed that turns out to be “complicated”.

Some people may define or measure it by money in the bank, and it’s no doubt true that if you have a healthy stash of cash, you are empowered to enjoy the pleasures of life and live comfortably, drive a fancy car, enjoy the fruits of travel and to a certain degree have a sense of security for the future.

But if life tells us anything, no one knows what the next days will hold for us. We heard enough stories about multi millionaires who happens to have everything that life has to offer but just cannot buy themselves true happiness. So what’s the point?

True as it may sound being wealthy will lead you to experience a comfortable life. Practicality at its best, money is important in order for you to eat, to survive, to live.

For me I understood that some people longs for the love of money that I, myself for sure would not be depressed if I had line zeros in my bank account.

Still, I have to admit the fact that there’s a point in my life I fancy living large a bit and treating my friends to a few extravaganzas, but after a while I would make sure that some of my disposable was put in better use. Sometimes, despite being plentiful there’s something lacking elsewhere =/

If proof were ever needed, it seems the elusive utopia of true contentment is not just a money thing. Indeed, those people who seem to have very little in terms of material wealth and don’t get up in a rat race to necessarily acquire the same, appear to be the most content.

Or let’s just say it allows them to keep focus on the more important things in life like health, family, balance, community and other valuable stuffs.

What’s your vision of happiness? Is it a moment when you wake up one morning that you have the feeling of optimism and calm surrounding rather than dread or foreboding? Then you are in the right path.

If you can go about your day in the knowledge that there’s no one that you harbor bad feelings towards and that anyone you encounter will be pleased to see you, then you are doing something right.

If you can look your friends and relationships that you have and use them as a mirror to judge yourself and you come out looking pretty and gorgeous, I think you have truly nailed it!

Happiness I mean, not the mirror =))

Soooo….define masaya?!
